Also means
obstacle, hindrance (dated)
Usage Note
Embarazo is a classic false friend: it means 'pregnancy', not 'embarrassment' (which is vergüenza). The adjective embarazada means 'pregnant' (estoy embarazada), so saying estoy embarazado/a to mean 'I am embarrassed' will cause confusion. An older sense of 'obstacle' or 'hindrance' has largely faded from modern use.
Examples
"Durante el embarazo es importante comer bien."
Natural Translation
During pregnancy it is important to eat well.
