Drogadicto is the standard clinical and journalistic term for a person addicted to drugs; the feminine form is drogadicta. It is composed of droga (drug) + adicto (addict). In everyday speech adicto a las drogas or simply adicto are common alternatives; the colloquial and often pejorative yonqui (from English 'junkie') is used in Spain.
