Usage Note

Dominante can be a neutral descriptor (la mano dominante — the dominant hand) or carry a negative sense of a person who is controlling or bossy. In music it also names the fifth degree of the scale (la dominante). It is invariable for gender: el color dominante / la tendencia dominante.
