Usage Note
Discapacidad is the accepted neutral term in contemporary Spanish for any physical, sensory, or cognitive disability; minusvalía is now considered outdated and potentially offensive. The preferred phrase in formal contexts is persona con discapacidad ('person with a disability') rather than discapacitado/a as a noun label.
Examples
"La ley protege a las personas con discapacidad."
Natural Translation
The law protects people with a disability.
