Devolver is an o→ue stem-changing verb (devuelvo, devuelves) and follows the same irregular pattern as volver. It specifically means to return something to its place or owner (devolver un libro). The reflexive devolverse is used in Latin America to mean to go back somewhere, where Spain uses volver.
