hybrid, cross-breed

Usage Note

Cruce comes from cruzar ('to cross') and covers a road intersection (un cruce peligroso), a genetic hybrid (un cruce entre dos razas), and in telecommunications a crossed line. It should not be confused with la cruz (the cross as an object or symbol) — cruce is the act or place of crossing.
