Usage Note
Cronista is a common-gender noun — el cronista or la cronista depending on the person's gender. Historically it named official court chroniclers (cronistas de Indias documented the Spanish conquest of the Americas); today it also means a journalist or commentator who writes a regular column (crónica). The gender of cronista follows the article, not the word ending.
Examples
"La cronista escribió sobre los eventos del día."
Natural Translation
The chronicler wrote about the day's events.
