crear

to create

verb kreh-AHR Common

Origin: from Latin creare

Usage Note

Crear is a regular -ar verb, but note the hiatus: the e and a are in separate syllables (cre-ar), so the present tense creo (I create) is two syllables. Do not confuse creo (I create) with creo from creer (I believe) — they are identical in form and only context distinguishes them. Creatividad and creativo are close derivatives.

Examples

"Ella crea arte desde niña."

Natural Translation

She has been creating art since she was a child.

Literal Translation

She creates art since girl
