Componer is an irregular verb following the pattern of poner: compongo, compones… It means 'to compose' (music or writing) and also 'to repair or fix' in colloquial use (componer un aparato). The past participle compuesto ('composed, made up of') is irregular and used in the phrase estar compuesto de ('to be made up of').
