Usage Note

Caravana covers a caravan of travellers or vehicles, a convoy, and — in Latin America — a traffic jam (hay caravana en la autopista 'there is a traffic jam on the motorway'). In Spain a trailing caravan for camping is caravana or autocaravana. The traffic-jam sense is especially common in Mexico.
