Usage Note

Capitalizar can mean to raise or convert funds into capital in a financial context, but is also used figuratively to mean 'to turn something to one's advantage'—as in capitalizar un éxito político (to capitalise on a political success). Like rentabilizar, it ends in -izar and has no stem changes.
