Usage Note

Bordo is almost exclusively used in the fixed phrase a bordo ('on board' a ship, plane, or vehicle): los pasajeros a bordo. As a standalone noun it means the side or edge of a vessel. Unlike English 'board' it does not extend to meeting boards or wooden boards (tabla, tablero).
