Usage Note
Armonización is widely used in EU legislative and economic texts to mean bringing national laws or standards into alignment — armonización fiscal (tax harmonisation) is a recurring phrase in Spanish political debate. It derives from armonizar (to harmonise). The stress falls on the final syllable because of the written accent on -ción, which also signals that the plural is armonizaciones — the accent disappears in the plural.
Examples
"La armonización fiscal sigue siendo un reto europeo."
Natural Translation
Tax harmonisation remains a European challenge.
