actuar

to act

verb ahk-too-AHR Common

Also means

to perform

Usage Note

Actuar means to act (behave) or to perform on stage/screen. It follows the -uar conjugation pattern, placing a written accent on the u in stressed forms (actúo, actúas, actúan) to prevent a diphthong. Do not confuse with hacer (to do/make) — actuar stresses the nature or quality of the action, or performance in particular.

Examples

"Actuó con mucha profesionalidad en la crisis."

Natural Translation

She acted with great professionalism in the crisis.

Literal Translation

She-acted with much professionalism in the crisis
